I try to remain fairly calm when I'm driving and not get drawn into having wars with people who do stupid things on the road. However, the red mist sometimes descends when people, through complete stupidity or deliberate aggressive behaviour, nearly cause a collision. One guy I encountered was, I think, quite possibly drunk. He charged past me, slammed his brakes on right in front of me and then turned left. Has anyone really made you mad on the road to the point where you've maybe even chased after them or got out and had a word rather than just letting it go? If so, what did they do that made you so mad and how did they react when you challenged them about it?
I try to remain calm, but some things just get me doing all coffee bean shaking. About a month ago coming down on the M1 towards the North Circular, my wife driving and there was a bloke in the outside lane who kept dabbing the brakes!
As we went past (eventually) I enquired "what the duck are you doing you banker" and offered some coffee as well.

Was he definitely dabbing the brakes or was it just a Peugot with the obligatory electric gremlins? As we went past (eventually) I enquired "what the duck are you doing you banker" and offered some coffee as well.
The only time I would have been happy to smack someone was when I was brake tested once, presumably they thought I was too close. I was so angry and the adrenalin from someone emergency braking I would have happily goateed them up but it turned out to be a girl. Just a note to all the twonks on here that think brake testing people is fun or a fair revenge for being tailgated etc.

My road rage days are long gone, hardly worth causing a fuss.
This.Could get hot headed in my early twenties, but now a decade or so on I like to just rise above these things. Hardly worth getting in a fight over a minor dispute.
I am guilty of smiling and waving at agressive drivers, which really is as bad, but when the other guy is stood in court and asked what provoked him to take a baseball bat to my head and he answers 'he gave me a cheery wave', I can't see that going his way.

I only normally get annoyed at people who do something deliberately provocative. It does tend to depend on the circumstances though. If I'm late for work I have a lot less patience with ditherers than if I don't have to be anywhere for a certain time. I once tried to pass two cars at once when I was on the last minute for work. The driver of the lead car literally never went above 20mph. When he saw me passing he put his foot down and I ended up having to go round the wrong side of a traffic island to complete the overtake. I was being followed by a work colleague who thought it was hilarious and still brings it up now if I talk about giving people lifts.
I did when I was younger occasionally, but I have learned to control my temper and to be honest, I couldn't give a sh*t these days. Knobs will be knobs and you'll never teach them by joining them. You just raise your own stress levels and likely put yourself in danger..
The lat time I remember getting into a spat with someone, was years ago in my Civic Type R. Some pleb came up behind me on a 50 dual carriage way, in the rain, way to fast, got right behind me started flashing his lights and accelerating upto a dangerous distance from my rear bumper. To be honest, I'd normally move lane but he just annoyed me, the fact he was being so dangerous in bad weather made me absolute loose it. I just wanted to do exactly what he had done to me, only better and see how he liked it.
I swerved into the left lane, put the anchors on, dropped my VTEC down a cog into the mental zone and floored it right behind him. He had no idea what happened, within seconds I was behind him, VTEC Screaming doing exactly the same to him.
Of course he tried jumping on his brakes, which always seems a really stupid thing to do, because if I do plough into the back of him, its going to be as bad for him as it is for me. But I was expecting that, I already knew what kind of a personality he was, so I braked too and carried on trying to intimidate him. And it worked, he was crapping himself.
Then the red mist cleared and I realised that I was being just as much of an ass hole as him. In fact probably worse because I was better at it than him, not that - that is anything to be proud of.
And the ironic stupidity of getting so annoyed about someone elses dangerous driving that I think my mirroring that behaviour is any better. And that it would teach him anything. Not to mention how ridiculously dangerous that kind of game is...
I backed off and pulled of the carriage way.
I think that was one of the experiences that led me to force myself to just ignore that kind of thing.

Until very recently, I also had bouts of RR. Then I bought an MX-5 (no, this is not a joke). I now very seldom approach the speed limit on motorways, don't bother about other idiots on the road (fog light users included), and usually arrive at my destination grinning like an idiot.
Even if I do encounter a true imbecile intent on destroying every other road user, my anger lasts only as long as they're in range of a can of RedBull.

Hogging the overtaking lane? Talk of Vtec kicking in?The lat time I remember getting into a spat with someone, was years ago in my Civic Type R. Yep - the road is full of knobs. I had one the other day on the A46 dual carriageway. I was on the A46 about to pass an on-ramp. A car was traveling down and indicating to join. I was going faster, so pulled out to let him on. When I was a full cars-length past in the outside lane, he decides to match my speed and not let me return to the inside lane. Why? Just what goes through these people's brains? I just indicated left in the end and he eventually got the message, but then started the fist shaking/beans etc.
People just seem to thrive on creating situations from nothing just so they can have a go.

Nicky, may the force be with you.
Pulled up to traffic lights on Sunday to see a confrontation on the other side of the crossing.
Man gets out of green Renault thing (he is big, bald and maybe had a goatee?), walks up to a brand new M3 with what looked like Mick Hucknell driving (it wasn't, just looked like him) and just thumps his window a few times. No doubt the M3 driver had come him up because just before the road narrows, but still... calm down people!

I've really chilled out now I ride a bike- although, i'll admit i'm no angel. I have had a couple of spats where someone has very nearly taken me out, but for all the day to day stuff, I see it as a challenge. And seeing as my road craft has improved 10 fold since passing, you can spot the idiots a mile off. I just give them a wide birth or try to avoid if at all possible.
I must get cut up nearly everyday, if I got angry at every opportunity, I think I'd put myself in an early grave.
It's just not worth it

I was very young, I'm not proud of that little incident and it was before it Civics became very chavy, honest. Todays entertainment has arrived :P
I was in the fast lane because I was slowly overtaking traffic in the left until Mr. Angry came up behind me..
I think I may regret posting this now

People in big cars who try and barge into a que annoy me. When I and other cars que round a round-a-bout bigger cars, usually a woman in a range rover sport, tries to barge in from the right. I have ended up because of my stubbornness not letting them push their way in and going up a single lane road with a range rover on my right not giving way either. In the end I always win though because the road has a pedestrian crossing half way up and they can't fit up the side.
I don't get what makes them think they're so special and can simply push in as they like and not que like the rest of us.
I went through the effort of making this
