If you were in a restaurant and had to choose 2 courses what would you go for, starter and main or main and dessert?

Just interested to see how many sweet tooths there are on here.

Main and dessert, with the cheeseboard as the dessert.

I haven't got a sweet tooth as such, I just feel a dessert makes the meal seem more rounded and balanced.

I will now go and cut my hands off so I never type "rounded and balanced" again

I rarely have puddings at home, so I'm a definate starter and main person smile

Depends entirely on the restaurant. If it's a nice range of desserts that haven't come from costco and been defrosted, main and dessert.

99% of the time I will ignore the desserts on a menu in favour of a decent Brandy. Cheese is always a good option although recently having seen prices of £10+ for a cheese board in a "normal" restaurant makes me wonder!

I have a definite sweet tooth but would go for starter and main every time.

Starter and Main. A creme brulee or chocolate fondant will tempt me about once a year, but I'd rather a gelato on the walk home.

Also a cheeseboard and/or hefty booze for pudding individual here.

Starter and main, not because I don't like sweets, its just that the dessert menu rarely seems worth the prices being charged.

Starter and main leaves your options open, once you've skipped starter it's gone...

Starter and main for me. I really don't like sweet / claggy food.

Depends on the type of restaurant

Indian/Chinese/Thai/Japenese - starter and main.

English/Italian/Pub/Cafe - probably main and pudding.

Would probably say main and desert, but usually ends up as starter and main due to me being hungry smile
