Bit of a situation.
Discussion
Im just wondering whether some can clarify this for me please.
My Girlfriend has a 30hr contract in a retail position, for the past year she has been working 39hrs (30 contracted and 9 overtime). it was guaranteed overtime, meaning she never had to ask for it she was just on the rota and expected to work it. Today though she was called in for a meeting and basically told that because the store sales have fallen her overtime has been cut, taking her back down to her 30hr contract.
I have heard from a few people that if you work 'permanent overtime' for a set period of time the business has to contract you for this. Whether this is true or not. I am a bit sceptical seeing as nothing was ever put in writing. Its not a huge problem but she has put her heart and soul into this position yet seems to be treated a bit unfairly. I just want to know if she has any rights in this situation.
Thanks
