Anyone going?
We're staying with family a bit further north than I would normally venture, so may take the opportunity to slope off to Bruntingthorpe. The Vulcan is due to be there on static, departing about 17:30 I believe, plus all the other usual stuff with fast taxi demos.
Having said all that, the weather forecast is not great.

Possibly, depending on the weather. Its an interetsing day out, but they cannot guarantee any of the aircraft will be running, which is understandable but a shame if you have travelled a long way. That said, they have 2 lightenings, so there is a good chance of seeing at least one running. I'll be there. Always a great day out even if the weather is bad. There's always a lot of wind at Brunty; whether it comes with sun or rain is the question.
The lightnings are often better in the rain as you can see the reheat more clearly. That coupled with a load of spray makes a very impressive sight.

I've never known Brunty to lose more than one planned item from the programme - the guys work their balls off in the weeks leading up to the open days to make sure their charges will be serviceable on the day.Just bought picnic stuff to go to Bruntinthorpe. SWMBO says I 've to take the boys with me so if you see a fat balding Scotsman shouting at 3 boys - That'll be me!

Inside the Super Guppy is amazing and the noise, just the sheer power of the lightning on re-heat is something you will never never forget.

Well done to all who took part. Apologies to the driver of the Vulcan Support van heading North on the M1 as a Bentley swerved in front of him to give the big thumbs up for being part of a great team.
Not forgetting hte Lightning Preservation guys - what power and noise! Won the "Most number of car alarms set off" prize.
My only mistake was leaving as soon as XH558 departed so I would miss the queues and missed the fire truck doing its thing. Quite a beast!.
Oh, and Martin Withers autographed my Vulcan Haynes manual!!

Brilliant day out (again!). Well done to all those who organise it.
We ended up parking next to a VTTS staff car, and while I was changing a nappy (on a 2 year old, not myself) Martin Withers came up and drove off in it! I wanted to go and meet him etc, but thought being wrist deep in toddler st probably wasn't the ideal time
