Has anybody got an Insinkerator (or other waste disposal)?
Discussion
Fancy picking myself up one of these units, sounds quite good to be able to just chuck waste and leftovers into the sink and let the unit chop it all up rather than waiting a fortnight for the bins to stink and grow some new form of fungi within.
B&Q are selling a mid-spec unit (the 55) for £150, I'm thinking of getting it if it all checks out well. If you've got one, what are your opinions? Worth the money? Easy to install? Robust?
TIA.

I don't have one, but have installed a few.
They are fairly easy to install. You'll most likely need to alter the waste pipes, but thats fairly easy to do. You'll need to fit a new waste connector to the sink as well, but again, that is a very easy job to do.
Just be careful what goes down them, I've seen them jammed up by little pieces of glass and hair clips.
They are not the nicest things to try and dismantle!

Thanks for the replies. Went out earlier this morning and picked it up from B&Q, now I've just got to figure out how to install it.
My in-laws had one and their waste pipe layout was tortuous and got blocked quite a bit. So make sure the the runs aren't complicated and also don't box stuff in or hide it such that dis-assembly would be very difficult. It also needs copious hot water with anything greasy.I hummed and harred about it on our last kitchen refit but was somewhat scarred by the in-laws experience. Also we still have weekly waste collections and my missus tends more to convenience - vegetables in a bag from M&S etc, than doing stuff totally from scratch, so we don't have enormous amounts of food waste.
