Restoring an Alfa
Discussion
I am looking to get my 1977 Alfa Spider Veloce back on the road. The car will need some rust removal from wheel arches and wings. The engine hasn't been started for about three years, and when last running had low compression on one cylinder, and the car may need a new clutch. Can anyone recommend a restorer to use? I know of one near Royston in Herts, but would be grateful for recommendations.
Someone with a VERY reliable welder!
Done a few & they are pretty complicated to get right..........the repair panels available are extremely poor quality & require much 'adjustment' to get fitted correctly which, coupled with a complicated structure, makes alignment - gapping & levelling an 'involved' process!!!
Whatever you do, don't send it to a 'general' restorer.......use someone who knows the cars well (105 Series) & has done them before. (It will look like costing more initially as they will include costs for much of the above which a general restorer probably won't be aware of, so don't go just on cost!)
Hope this helps?
Good luck with it, Al.
