Get Your Name On Track At Le Mans

Support Martin Rich and the Lotus Evora GTE and you could play your own part in motor racing's greatest spectacle

Fancy getting your very own initials emblazoned upon a Le Mans car? Like the idea of helping out a good cause while you're at it? Of course you do.

Well, this year you can, since Brit Martin Rich, racing the Evora GTE for the Lotus Jetalliance team, is offering the opportunity to get your mark slapped onto his racing car in return for a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.

As if tackling the Le Mans 24 hours as a non-professional racing driver in a pretty much brand-new car isn't daunting enough, Martin has decided to try and raise a whopping £100,000 for the cancer Charity in memory of his father.

"Competing at Le Mans has been a lifelong dream for me and I can hardly believe that I will finally get a chance to see it come true. It is simply one of the world's great motor races and the only one a non-professional still has a slim chance of getting to," says Martin. "And of course, for an Englishman, to do this as part of a Lotus-backed team is just incredible. I can't stop grinning every time I think about it!"

If you like the idea of getting your name on the first Lotus to enter the world's most famous race since the 1990s, then all you have to do is find the LeMans page on the Virgin Money Giving website, donate as little as £1 using your PayPal account if you have one and leave your initials.

But be quick, because if you don't donate by the end of the weekend, Martin won't be able to get your initials printed and on the car in time. But you can still help him to get to that £100k target.

Lovely isn't it, got 3 lots of initials on her, me and me two lads. More to the point, great idea, and a wonderful cause. Now I have another favorite Lotus as well as my own, I might even sneak in and paint the wheels gold.

What's all this talk of non-professionals not getting to le mans? The majority of the grid is made up of non-professionals. Unless having so much money that you can afford to do lots of racing and end up not too bad at it counts as being a professional.

That isn't what he said. He said that it is one of the greatest races in the world and the other ones are barred to non-professionals. A non-prof only has a limited chance of getting a berth as competition and figures are very high and opportunities are still quite rare.

The Evora, with that GT wing, really has a great looking silhouette as a GT racer.
