Evening all,

Inspired by the "What car" thread over General Gassing, as you may of guessed! It seems that recently, I've been thinking rather a lot about watches, going through the usual "What would I buy if I had that kind of money?" or simply what I might invest in next.

So which watch have you been obsessing about today?

Whilst catching up with the Monaco qualifying, its this for me:

Yeah a good idea. smile
I've actually been thinking about buying a watch back today, I've emailed the go who bought it to see if he can get the details of who bought it from him...

Anyway, it's this (my pics)-

If I could get hold of the owner and they'd be willing to sell, I think I'd move on my Submariner for it.

Have you seen this one?

I don't know about obsessing but here's my current 'on the look out for' list:

Tier One:
Omegas Speedmaster 376.0822.

Sinn 156 (pref. the first batch, without the 24hr hand).

(Middle one, although any of the three would be great - lars/WuS)

Alain Silberstein Krono Bauhaus (LWO5100)

Zenith De Luca (first generation)

(Al/ATG)

...or Cairelli CP2.

(Marco/WPS)

ZRC Etanche Grands Fonds, series 2.

(?)

Tier Two:
Aquastar Deepstar

(Al/ATG)

Lemania 1872 or asymmetric single pusher, issued.

(SteveG/ninanet)

Eterna Kontiki

(river rat/ATG)

A number of odd ones; orig. Doxa etc.

But then you never know what may crop up...

There was one on TZ this morning, but it sold in a quarter of an hour; for £3,800.

There have been 3 or 4 in as many months, but it's taking a while to build up the pot. Annoyingly one sold for £3,000 at auction in Germany, one sold from Italy at £2,800 (I spoke several times but they wanted cash only and I would have flown over but had to go away for work...) and a third is up on WuS at £4,200 - you can imagine why I'm a bit gutted. Still, a couple of irons in the fire...

Not the model I'm looking for though and at the moment I'd like my one back.

...and now I can see the pics you can see it's a service or Bienne dial and not correct for the watch (correct as in 'as originaly sold'). Price was steep in that case imo.

The Monaco has just been overtaken, by this:

A Seiko Speedmaster SBDP021, currently for sale on WUS at the moment. I really wish I had the funds to spare for this one. . .

haven't worn a watch in well over a decade. new job with lots of travel means i need one as setting time on various gizmos is becoming a drag.

currently leading the shortlist is either a sinn 356 flieger or a heuer carrrera reissue. a speedmaster would get a look in but they go for too much than i can afford at present.

I'd like to say "one day", but it'll never happen. Would really love something like this as an exhibition piece, though:

I'm a big IWC fan but just can't get excited by this, looks a little cheap and plasticky.......I will probably see one in the flesh and immediately open my wallet smile

I've got a small amount of cash burning a hole in my pocket at the moment.

I'm thinking......

Omega Speedmaster - Pre owned
Omega Baby Ploproff - One of those rebuild jobbies
Tudor Snowflake - Pre owned obviously
Longines Legend Diver - New but would prefer a pre owned one.

These are all on my obtainable list at the moment. Out of all of them I'm swaying towards the Longines. I tried one on on saturday and was really impressed. The thing is I feel I should have another blue faced watch in the collection. I've been after a blue Monaco for ages but after finally trying one on I fell out of love with it. Still want one but it would have to be an utter bargain for me to get one.

Lovely, aren't they? Tried one on passing the time whilst the GF was doing some shopping a while back, do like twin crown watches and the strap felt pretty cool as well, some kind of woven material IIRC.

It was. I was expecting it to be a bit bigger but its fairly subtle. It is supposed to be 41mm but it looked simialr in size to my Explorer II. The strap was nice as well in particular the detail on the buckle. Its close to be being my new watch.
