I posted this in the Honda section this morning, but no replies as of yet so I thought I would stick it here where there is a bit more traffic smile

I am currently looking for a new car, and I had pretty much decided on a Volvo T5 of some sort, until I realised that Accord Type Rs were actually less to insure!

Having trawled the classifieds, the only ones that I can afford (around £2k) seem to be at the bottom of the market.

Now, I know nothing about Hondas, apart form the fact that they are reliable.

Would buying a 120k + Type R be a bad idea and just asking for trouble?

Or are these cars known to run to silly mileages with good maintenance?

What are the common faults on these cars?

Just an idea I am playing with at the moment, but any input would be greatly appreciated

I'm sure they had one of these as a SOTW recently, look it up!

IMO it won't be as good as an equivalent Volvo T or R car but on it's own they're fairly decent. Fairly rare compared to their Civic counterparts and should be fairly reliable if well looked after. There are a few owners here, they should be able to offer some advice.

I'd take one over a Volvo R - they're extremely competent as standard and whilst the Volvo is quick I've never felt comfortable hustling one.
