Can someone advise what to use to clean and protect the Chimaera roof.
Do I just use a standard water-proofer/cleaner or is there a "specialist" stuff to use ?

Renovo, three stage stuff, cleaner first, then some stuff to re-black and dye it, then ultraproofer to protect, excellant stuff.

Not sure if this is cheapest price below but thats the stuff you want

+1 for Renovo

Silicon hose kits are available; search for TVR suppliers, most stock them (incl ACT, Racing Green, TVR carparts) and no doubt others. If you're changing the hoses, check the metal 'S'-pipe between rad bottom hose and water pump - they tend to corrode. Stainless replacements are much better (IMHO).

Leads, some like Magnecor, others (like me) just use the standard Bosch sets for the Rover V8. Latter not available in bright colours like Magnecors though.

303 products are better than Renovo in my experience, unless you're re-colouring as well, where renovo leade the way for me. Available from lots of places.

Magnecor are over priced and under perform in my experience, I use Moroso leads, available from Real Steel. Far out perform Magnecor in terms of longevity and they're cheaper and you can make them to your own lengths etc.

Neither product so well known on the boards but I've been thru both the suggestions before and found better in my experience alternatives.

Waterproofing I use 303, but you can use Fabsil etc as well.

I'd agree about the 303 stuff although the Autoglym convertible top cleaner set does a great job and the proofer in the same kit is OK but doesn''t seem to last long, Fabsil brush on is best imo.

The spray-on types of protection do not penetrate the surface, they are great for 'quick and simple' but will not provide long term protection. See below method for stripping the old dirty wax and replacing with a new deep application.

I use Thompsons water seal or similar own brands - re-proofs very efficiently.

Personally i have found renovo products quite poor on several soft tops i've owned

I've used the Fabsil as well as Renovo, no problems. Difficult to say which is best as mine doesn't go out in the wet smile

Fenwicks awning re-proofer is as good as any I've tried and is cheaper. Available from camping/caravaning suppliers.
