A bootleg trailer of the David Fincher movie of the book has found its way onto the internet.

It's an international trailer (not a US one) and has been recorded on a mobile in a cinema but is clear.

If you are interested, check it out before Sony pull the plug on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtZG2APXtZ8

Edit: Amended link as Sony removed the trailer from the link originally posted.

Looks good; really liked the originals (and books); Noomi was excellent as Salander, here's hoping Rooney is as good.

Looks like the Swedish one has been copied almost shot for shot in some places.

On the other hand, I think Daniel Craig is a little bit more believable in his role.

I've not read the book(s) or seen the Swedish movies.

Should I before catching the US version?

I think I would - I saw the Swedish films first, then read the books. There's some stuff in the Swedish films that I'm sure is going to get toned down at least a little (it's fairly harrowing).

Have been wondering about reading the books for some time. After seeing that trailer I might invest, looks very interesting.

Yeah I would imagine they'll tone it down. The harrowing parts of the books are depicted pretty graphically in the Swedish films.

The books are superb, the first one in particular is something close to brilliant.

That's an awful cover version of Immigrant Song.

Go for the films first, honestly. The books are quite heavy reading, and you'll make sense of them a lot faster if you've seen the films.

I wouldnt have said the books are heavy going. I really loved them and was a bit disappointed in the films to be honest, so much was left out. I suppose thats always the way with book to film transitions, I am looking forwards to the remakes though.

Sorry mate, but disagree! Read the books, you'll understand then WHY she behaves the way she does. Totally readable and "un-put-downable". Brilliant.

I disagree totally. Read the books first as the films gloss over a lot of the background stuff, especially Salanders background. If I'd have seent he film first of all I'd have been clueless as to half the story.
I'm currently about 100 pages into the Hornets nest having read all back to back, love the books and just hope Hollywood don't spoil the story too much. The Swedes made a pretty good job of the films, though Blomvkist was not quite what I'd have imagined him to be from the book.

The films let the books down very badly imho. Too much left out or glossed over.

From what I heard the films didn't have huge budgets or backing because they were conceived before the books became well known, plus they were filmed as Swedish TV movies (or at least the last two were).

I really enjoyed them to be honest, mainly thanks for Noomi Rapace and the chap who played Blomkvist. I saw the first film before reading all three novels in one go whilst on holiday last year. Yes, a lot is missed out but that's inevitable with book-to-film translations, especially when Larson was so detail-heavy in his text.

IMO the films didn't do a bad job until "...Hornet's Nest" which was so complicated it could probably have done with two films.

Given the difficulties involved with adapting a book for the screen I think it's one of the better ones I've seen.

Agree with this. The books fall heavily into the "cannot put down" category but the films, due to leaving out the superfluous content (although I would say important content because it really helped in understanding the subtelties of the characters and story in the books), really felt "light" because of it.

I am really looking forward to this re-make and although it may lose the "dark" side of the Swedish films, I hope it will be a better overall experience to watch and "enjoy"

Finally got round to reading the first book last week, cracking read. Yet to watch the films, but the trailer for the remake looks quite good. Will probably read the rest of the books before watching the film versions

Books are great, and there will always be complaints about the film version as they need to fit everything into two hours. Just think LOTR or Potter, the number of geeks who cry over why Tom Bombadil was left out of the films rolleyes

Have to say with the first Swedish film, I thought Blomkvist was dog ugly, as was Berger. They are meant to be attractive people! Got used to them though, and Salander was excellently cast.

This new trailer looks awesome....
