excellent trackday today on the new venue, first proper day on there for me. anyone else attend?
track surface is superb, quite technical , not massively long straights which is good. Very unusual in this day and age to get a new track without massive costs to have fun.
If you havent yet tried it then give it a go. :-)

i was there, was ok, was not feeling too great which didnt help, i imagine its nicer when its warm and not windy, was not hugely impressed with the standard of driving of some of the westfields/se7ens refusing to pull over for literally 2 laps and queues of 5 or 6 people behind them, highlight was that lola replica going round.

I thought the 2 chicanes were a bit too slow, 40-50mph, when the cones got knocked out the way on one of them the track flowed a bit better i thought and the wiggler is just plain too narrow. The rest of the circuit is good fun, bunga bunga and the next 2 corner complex is great fun, think in general it needs some kerbs though to dissuade you from cutting corners, i see them as a bit of risk reward type thing and currently theres very little risk for quite a lot of reward.

will have a look at the other thread then. the lola rep is mine btw!

one of the westfields was abit dozy in front of me, never moved over for almost 2 laps, but eventually did so.

did you see the caterham/westy that went off (miles) and luckily no damage done, right up onto the infield raised mound!

from having a chat with the owner of the track today it would apear that he has some good plans longer term to continue making the venue a cracker, poss longer track, poss wider areas etc. great credit due for getting it off the ground

yep i spoke to him, seemed very enthusiastic and liked his cars so always a good start for an owner..... dont think i saw the one mount the bank but did see a westy go off in front of me on the first/last corner (one before jochen) onto the cabbages in front of me then try and turn back onto the track and almost hit the corner marker/sign name board thing....followed up straight away by a pheasant running out infront of me at about 110mph on the back straight!

Not sure i saw the westy in the middle unless it was the blue one at the start of the day?

I was in the grey elise, had a passenger/2nd driver along with me who had never driven it before and proceeded to pootle round the lap with me feeling awful in the passenger seat, i think some more shelter especially with its location is crucial!

i had pheasant run across also! quite a few people using the hangar today to get out of the wind , the owner was saying people could work on cars etc in there, once the farmer has built is new hangar then its fully available for the trackday crowd to use which will be good. i bet there is a market for car/trailer storage at the track if it was provided and was secure etc.

i think the pitlane exit would benefit from a wider off road to get cars off line if that can be accomodated in future, but its very impressive for a new venue and sure to improve even more in time.

did you shoot any incar at all? i didnt have a camera with me today. managed one lairy spin out of the chicane when trying too hard lol

we were behind you when you spun i think (2nd chicane?) just saw you facing the wrong way, nope no vids at all and i wondered what the tractors were doing in there.

I think it will be good, definitely has the space for a nice paddock and the track was nice just not a fan of that 2nd very tight chicane, i think its very hard to moan for the price as well, 2nd half of the track is great fun.

Richard was saying that future plans might include additional track upto poss 3m in length!

i have to fix my backboxes now as the covers kept coming loose and half the packing burnt away, car sounded like a tractor at the end with both exhausts blowing.

deffo. once a few more people try it i think it will become v popular. wont ever match silverstone GP for spectacle or cadwell for elevation changes, but great in its own way and 100% improvement over concrete airfield days.

12th june for me next. got to repair exhaust backboxes and repack.
noise limits not an issue, think they are asking people to comply with 105db static which is sensible but check with operator.

if anyone has any footage from the weekend would like to see it! cheers

What's the deal with spectating there now? I went up on Sunday to hopefully have a walk around the paddock and do a bit of spectating (like I did before the development, spectating from where you used to enter the track) but got as I got towards the track there was a 'No Spectators Beyond This Point' sign as you were about to enter the paddock area and very far away from the actual track?

If I'd have bee with somebody else or have known somebody in the paddock I'd have risked going in, but felt a bit obviously/vulnerable - thought this was a bit rubbish compared with other track days where you get a bit of free reign. Obviously there is a safety aspect but it seemed a bit over the top, couldnt see any specific spectator type areas elsewhere.

Cheers.

there were quite a few people spectating on the raised bank, right next to the paddock. i think those outer fences are to stop people wandering off across the field at that point to the top end of the cct. certainly no one was stopped driving into the paddock and then spectating on the banking there, must have been 20 people at one point sat up there.

Excellent to hear this new track getting some good feedback I must say. Looking forward to getting there when I get a new car worth of taking it around. It looks good fun smile

Thanks for the info, I may try to go on the 12th (unlikely) or 26th and see if I can get a proper look.

Juffled - the bunga bunga bit...

This isn't something I've seen available on any other trackday. i think we need to know more.
