Engine management for turboed MK1?
Discussion
I have a MK1 1.6 MX5 which was imported from Japan a couple of years ago with a turbo fitted.
It has an HKS fcon 'mini' piggyback unit which has failed. I have read online that the ROM chip in them can fail when jumpstarting which is what I was doing when it failed. Can it be repaired?
And now I don't know what to do. Any help or advice appreciated.

Jonny I may have a FCON mini spare which you can have for postage assumign I can find it. Its from a turbo'd NB 1.8 though so not sure it is of any use?It has an HKS fcon 'mini' piggyback unit which has failed. I replaced mine as its basically pants.
I replaced it with a piggyback ECU that was recommended by my trusted mapper. Theres no point in getting an all singing unit if your chosen mapper has no experience of it...
i could swear you started off with an EMB laz?
am pretty sure it does fuelling and spark timing, but you can only go so far on EMB.
your best options are e-manage ultimate, megasquirt, or adaptronic. the latter two appear to be more capable, at least they are a becoming a lot more popular - of those, MS is cheaper but has slightly less features built in (i think), but they'll both do absolutely what you need. EMU i don't know much about...
i went MSPnP on mine, for ease. the mazda ECU harness plugs straight in.

yes, the EMB does, I was asking about the "HKS fcon 'mini' piggyback unit"
EMB is fine for most setups, it's just when you start pushing for bigger power they are a bit lacking.
