oil change tip?

Had my 4.5 engine perfectly level on an engine stand and went to drain the oil from the sump. No problems but what I was amazed at is how much oil stayed in the sump with the sump plug removed, at least 3/4pint. Now my oil was new so it didnt matter but if this was an normal oilchange taking place in the car it would have been all the dirty oil at the bottom of the sump that would remain in the engine.
In future if I am doing an oil in the car i will jack up the driver side of the car as high as I can get it so as to get the last crappy bit of oil out of the sump.

It's also worth running your car up to temp before an oil change (or at least warm). Makes the oil more less viscous and so will drain better.

Don't forget that there's a couple of litres in the oil ways and oil cooler that you're not changing anyway. But you know that from when you rebuilt your engine - how much more oil did it take after the rebuild?

I reacon in total after the rebuild, filling the oilways and priming the filter,oil cooler it takes about 9 litres. Didnt measure in but i only had a little left out of two 5 litre cans.
