What? I was there, racing in the 50's saloons (7th!) - I like to think I keep my ear to the ground, but heard no complaints - and we're from Carlisle and used to anything up to 9 hours to get home from a race (in fact just back after unpacking car etc at 2am!), so the odd 15 mins here and there can be important. It didn't bother us, and I thought it was a great meeting - thanks to all who were involved in organising!If I'm totally honest, I hate it when other racers leave before the end of the meeting - we're supposed to be interested in racing, even if it's a race we're not in, surely?!
Not unusual for Mallory for any meeting due to the time restraints on getting the race programme in before the 6 o’clock curfew.
Most organising Club usually state in the final instructions that it may not always be possible to let people out of the paddock between races because of this, but there are always people who think they should be made a “special case”.
I would have thought due to the nature of the event and the TV involvement, this would have been emphasised.

If you broke or crashed on a wet miserable day like yesterday you just wanted to go home, I can understand the sentiments above, but when there is a tractor going up and down the start finish strait for twenty minutes, they could have let the queue go. not us but at one point that end of the paddock was gridlocked with people trying to get out. it didn't help when the marshals were saying that the reason was that clerk of the course was in a foul mood and was just being difficult.
I was there too (2nd 2cv race, came 1st)we couldn't get off the circuit for people trying to leave.If we aren't supporting each other why should anyone else?
We did this event last year and it was clear that no one would be able to leave while the racing was happening,maybe that wasn't clear this time.If it had been maybe the top end of the paddock wouldn't have resembled the M25 at rush hour.
There were some great races in difficult conditions with quite a few incidents,if being a COC is stressful can you imagine the pressure of tight tv schedule and the rain?Knowing how helpful the COC we had this weekend is(he helped me get my licence back after 3 years in time for this meeting)I doubt he would have held people in just to be awkward.
The Classic 2cv Racing Club will definitely support this event if it happens next year.

To be honest I can see if you stacked it in the first race and then have to wait from 1:15 to 6 to get out you might be a little miffed. But then this is Mallory and anyone who has ever been there knows that once lunch break is over you are at the mercy of the way the day falls. As it stood the only times when there would have been time to have let people out yesterday that I can recall were as a result of stoppages to clear up incidents. In those circumstances I think that the CoC’s mind might have been on more important matters.
Just be thankful you don’t have to dance to Bernie’s tune. I remember the old days of F3 and Tomcats racing on BGP Saturday but not being able to break down camp until 5 minutes after the start of the GP the following day. Fricking great Bradshaw races on the Saturday nights though with pissed F3 drivers at the wheel (a number of whom might have or still attend the odd BGP to work these days
)
