I've been tempted to get a new camera for a while (digital compact). I've been putting it off because they seem to be coming down in price all the time, and I've been making do with a Casio EX-M1, which whilst it is tiny, produces rubbish pics (1.2MP).

Just scanning through Dixons when I saw this and wondered if you lot had any thoughts.

I want to use it for general stuff so don't need anything too flashy. What d'ya reckon? There's an updated version of this out for about twice the money, from what I gather by hunting around on the net.

edited to say - I'm aware it's refurbished, but that doesn't bother me - should it?

seems like a good deal. I got my camera from a US website - much much cheaper than here and absolutely hassle free. Arrived in 3 days!

Really, which site? Any hassle with customs?

(hopefully that works) - no prob with customs at all. Even included 5yr worldwide warranty - try getting that for free from Dixons!

Regularly buy stuff from US. Never had customs hassle - perhaps I`ve been lucky. If you know someone over there, get it sent to them and then forward to you as "unsolicited gift" or "no commercial value". One minor drawback is that home insurance policies will not cover foriegn goods if duty is not paid - found this out a few years ago when some scrote nicked the camcorder I bought in Singapore.

Customs can charge import duty and VAT on anything over £18 - so you've been lucky.
