What brake pads would you recommend?

Hi Guys,

I recently fitted some yellowstuff pads to my 2008 Mazda 3 MPS and after a few laps round oulton park I was getting some really bad brake fade. I thought this would have to be down to my brake fluid so changed that but even now my brakes dont really feel like they have much bite. The fluid I changed it with was Castrol SFR so should be fine - is it just that the yellowstuff are bad? Or did I bed them in wrong (just drove about 400 miles without any heavy braking at the recommendation of the garage that fitted them).

I just need something that is not stupidly expensive, has a bit of bite when cold but that will stop me properly.

I prsoanlly don't like the EBC pads at all, they are aimed at boy racers. If you want increased bite use a grooved and or drilled disc. Put some Mintex M1144 pads in.

I've used both the Redstuff pads and greenstuff (not had the misfortune to try yellowstuff) and I've found them both really poor,
I had greenstuff on a corsa gsi and had brake fade on a spirited drive over the dales!
Also my latest car had redstuff pads already fitted (vx220) and I found them really poor!I changed the pads last week to mintex 1144 and they are brilliant!good all round pad and work good from cold.

P.s I found the cheapest place to get them from was camskill and I ordered 2pm Tuesday and they were with me by 11am Wednesday

There is nothing worng with EBC pads. I've used them on my Subaru for a long time, starting off with RedStuff when i first got the car, then moving on to YellowStuff soon after various mods. I have to say i thought the pads were very good from day one. I run RedStuff on my Jag too, and they work so well. Much better than OEM.

All my EBC pads have been bedded in using the StopTech process (which i was already aware of for a very long time before my Subaru came along), and works very well. Pity i have retired my Subaru now to make it ready for other duties otherwise i would be trying out the latest BlueStuff pads on the road, which i hear are really good.

If anyone here has ever bedded in their brakes using the process Stoptech advise i would be very surprised and they will certainly be in the minority. This process works for all brake pad materials.

Those fading their EBC's clearly didn't bed them in properly and probably need some professional driving lessons. I think it's quite common for drivers too lean on their brakes much too hard and for far too long because their corner approach/entry speeds are way too high, hence they induce brake fade within a few corners regardless of how good the pad material is.
