Plasterboard thickness for ceilings?
Discussion
Cheers chaps. I'm not overboarding as I've dropped the old lath and plaster ones. The joists are at 450mm (ish) as they're old. I've read this should be fine? Of course I will noggin every end. Also, I've bought the sticky mesh type joint tape, is this the normal or is there better out there I should use as the boards are only 9.5mm?
Thanks again!!
Thanks again!!
Are you having it taped or skimmed? whicheverway you go the self adhesive mesh tape will be fine, if it is being skimmed expect some cracking around the edges where the ceiling meets the existing wall (unless your putting up cove?) if your having it taped make sure the taper puts internal paper tape around the edge and finishes it properly, this will reduce the risk of cracks by about 80%

I am putting coving up. I was going to board and mesh tape it myself and then get a professional in to skim it. Just concerned over the 9.5mm thickness and this cheap mesh tape from screwfix and wondered if there was a better way to join the edges prior to skimming?Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
