I have a 1986 280i US model. It is brown. Can anyone help me with where this paint would have come from? I would like to repaint it with the correct colour.

Thank you

Jim

If you 'knew' the original paint color name those lists might be helpful but between them there must be 20 reds (my color).

I'm trying to think of a small painted but not faded part you could take in and have matched.

First Wedge I ever saw was brown.

More likely Fire Engine Red.. the 190 was probably the ICI code for it as that's whose paint TVR mostly used.

I sent my fuel flap to these people

http://www.autopaintsbrighton.co.uk/custom-hand-ma...

and got a perfect match for colour. The colour code on the car, KV52 kept coming back as 'itallian red' or even 'monza red'. Itallian red has too many combinations and monza red was too dark and also was made with lead as an addative so couldn't be mixed to original
