How bad is the traffic on the A3 in the morning...

I work in Farnborough (Hants) but live in Blackheath so currently I get the train to work. Next month I am moving to Clapham so thought it might be an idea to drive to work instead. I am well aware that coming back in the evening will be a traffic nightmare, I've just never done the drive in the morning.

Does anyone do a similar drive and have any ideas on timescales?

Once you are past Wandsworth it should be OK.

Usually, from my experience of getting on at Guildford and going past your junction (Hogs back) it's alright.. Most of the time.

Sometimes there will be abit of traffic, but usually not much.. Guildford is the blockage, and so you might slow abit there but its never really standstill other than if theres an accident or the like.

Its also slow where it goes from 3 lanes to 2 at Hook [ace of spades] junction and if the M25

is slow at J10 then it can cause slowness there too.

I think you have the lesser of 2 evils in working out of town and coming back in the evening

And watch out for camera vans about 1/2 mile after limit goes from 50 to 70 .Many peeps like to

give it some after limit is upped .
