Replaced Tyres, but the valves are to low now!!!!!!!!!!!
Discussion
Hi guys,
I am pretty obsessed about keeping my tyre pressures correct on my cars..
I replaced the RFT's with Falken over the weekend on my Z4M. However, when i went to check the tyre pressures, i was unable to get the connecter over the valve tip as the valve protrudes far less from the wheel now....

What can i do now??? Do i need to change valve stems? or can i get some sort of extension bit to get a lock onto the tyre...

Or as above he could just take the car back and get them to fit the correct ones... HellDiver said:
You could go back to where you got the tyres fitted and get them to change the valves, or you could post stupid questions on the internet. One fixes the problem, one doesn't.
Jesus...you are a proper tosser innit..And the point in your reply was what exactly? jog on...
Bet you are even more miserable in real life!

Who ruined the handling on your Z4M by putting RFT's on it?They came with Conti-Sport Contact2 OEM - BMW Never put RFT's on.
I guess the Falkens will ride better, Vreds or PS2/PS3's FTW.
They would never have worked anyway, as the M wheels didn't have the internal lip needed.
You tend to get 4 types of valve:
Short
Long
Metal
Tyre Pressure Sensing
Short valves are generally used on alloy wheels, long valves are usually used on wheels with wheel trims, metal valves don't need replacing very often and tyre pressure sensing are expensive and should probably be replaced.
In theory, you car should probably have short valves, but at some point, long ones have been put on it. I've never heard of someone not being able to use a short valve on a wheel without wheel trims though.

, one isn't...Out of interest - how did they manage to stick some air in the tyres yet you can't get your guage on?

Although he probably could have phrased it better, the sentiment is correct
If that were true, we could close down the Internet entirely - his question is reasonable, "should I complain or is there a solution I'm missing".AyBee said:

It's easier when the wheel is on the balancer and not on the car - you can grab the valve or even push it from behind...
Also, some gauges/inflaters have larger couplings which can be a bugger to fit on some valves (1 of my 4 tyres I cannot check with my own gauge but the local Asda doodah works - for example).
Something the OP needs to bear in mind is that some alloy designs don't work well with long valves (the valves protrude or catch on them) so the valve extender is a neater solution, if it works...
