Mechanical cam valve clearances?

Mine are requiring beig reset.

I am getting different advice and need to know where to set mine.

The cam is a mechanical running .5" lift with adjustable pushrods

Ian called Kent as they supplied the cam, followers and springs and they gave a figure of 0.55mm ie 22 thou.
This matches with most of the settings anyway. It seems a few have settled more on bedding in and 1 had come loose.

If they are happy with that and the car runs fine for the next few months then thats good enough for me but i will be keeping an eye on everything including fluid consumption, RR reslts and most importantly performance figures.

We generally run the racer at around 22 thou and never had any problems for the 12 or so years we've set them. They will need checking/ajusting on a reasonably regular basis if you'll be thrashing the car all the time (every other race on the griff, and generally 1/2 need adjustment).

Thats good to hear.
I am happy enough to check them regularly (something i could do in the pits at the end of day 1 then see any improvements the following day). I wont thrash the engine in the same way or any where near as long a duration as a racer.
15 x 11 second runs up the 1/4 mile per day at a weekend meeting. I dont expect to exceed much more than 6k but if the engine proves keen then we will see.
