I drove the Cerbera that I'd been to view today and left a nice, chunky deposit on it. It wouldn't start initially, all the lights came up on the dash but there was no churning from the starter motor, so I imagine that's sticking. Its booked in to a specialist anyway for that attending to, along with a few minor electrical gremlins before I collect her. There's one question I do have; there's a pipe that I've highlighted with a circle, which I followed down and it had some black gunge on it towards the bottom of the pipe... Not a great explanation, admittedly, but does anyone know what that could be? There also seemed to be a little moisture around the leads, anything to be concerned about?
Here's the pics anyway, and if anyone knows anything about the car, feel free to comment. The original plate was R201FNW.

The hose on the right goes to the oil breather canister on the bottom of the airbox. Not unusual for this to get full of old manky oil. Just a simple case of unscrewing it, washing it out and putting it back on.
The wires on the left, will either be the HT leads, the injector wires or the coil pack wires. Could well just be moisture/rain that's dripped down from the F1 panel.

Thank you both. Onzlouk, the car has done 40 miles or so in the last two years so you might well be right about the starter issues. Its set to be attended to anyway, if I get a new starter motor out of it then even better. The electric mirror adjustment and driver's window don't work either, which is set to be looked at. The window went all the way down but won't go back up again, although I can hear it clicking.

Good to see you're already throwing the right sort of attitude at Cerb probs....
They come, and with a bit of forethought and fiddling, they go ....
Sounds like you've just got a couple of small teething probs coz the car's not been used much. A few regular drives and she'll be as responsive as.... wel, as a good 'un.

p.s the 'Search' facility on here is a saviour but if it falls over, which it did, regularly, you can use this link to use a more reliable search....

Thanks sweeper, she is a stunning looking car. The paintwork is generally very good, no crazing or anything and only a couple of very minor scratches here and there. The inside is good too, with the exception of the usual driver's seat bolster wear.Enjoy!

Thanks Mr Cerbera, I've been dreaming of this moment for as long as I can remember. She goes like a stabbed rat and everything feels very positive. Oh, and did I mention the noise? Its wonderful. Good to see you're already throwing the right sort of attitude at Cerb probs....

Welcome Robsco, you wont be dissapointed (frustrated at times maybe). It took me 14 years to get round to buying mine, and I don't regret it at all.
The best thing I've found so far is, that when something goes wrong and it feels like a dead end help is just a few clicks away (on here).

Hi Olly, did you get your clutch sorted? I emailed you after Chatsworth if you remember, after I saw you pushing her. How things swiftly change, I have my very own now! Thanks for the welcome; Alfa Romeo ownership has geared me up to this to a large extent. Sure, there will be frustrations, but the moments when there's a nice road ahead and everything is working far outweighs the low points.
On a slightly different note, do Cerb owners have any issues with persuading people they don't use Rover V8s? One of my petrolhead ex-colleagues is adamant that the Cerbera uses a mildly breathed on Rover V8, even sending a picture of the engine bay for him couldn't persuade him otherwise. Should I just give up?

Either that or an earful of exhaust!Clutch issue was nothing more than air in the system. Mind you it didn't bleed easily, and when it did it was full of gunk! Diagnosis is a degrading seal in the master cylinder, so that's this weekend's task! £40 for a new master cylinder was a pleasent surprise!!
I think your mate needs to go with you to your first TVRCC gathering and hear a Cerb next to a Chim! Make sure you bet him £1k first, that'll pay for your inevitble new clutch!

Congrats! I wont pitch in to the tech discussions as there are people here who have forgotten more than I ever knew about Cerbies but from what you have told me, sounds like a great car. I still miss my old girl. Cerbies are a pain to own, seem to delight in trying to kill you every so often, have loads of annoying faults that seem half the time to repair themselves and is without doubt the most annoying car I ever owned.... but the looks, the noise, the gorgeous interior and the fact it is just so much fun to drive (other than traffic, heavy rain or snow!) always more than made up for it all the negatives! Would I have another? No, probably not, been there done that, but they are utterly brilliant cars and it is an itch you will be delighted you have been able to scratch.
As I said, there are people on these forums who know way more than I ever will and the Cerbie bunch are always really helpful but feel free to call anytime at all.

Allan, I noticed the extra pace! It was a case of treating the Cerbera with the respect it deserved on Tuesday; I was a little nervous of it to be honest, due largely to its fearsome reputation. That said, at normal road speeds I was surprised at how settled it was. The ride was unexpectedly supple, the controls light in feel etc.
I've since been thinking about the exhaust... Its completely standard at the moment, which in all honesty is loud enough for me. But I'd like some artillery fire on the overrun. So standard pipes with decats...?
