If you don't need the latest version then you can buy a legit but older version from ebay.

If you want the latest & 'greatest' then it's got to be from BMW for a whopping £150 or so.

Buy a TomTom (or similar) and then take it from car to car as you need to.

DON'T BUY IT FROM EBAY!! I did this with mine and it turned out that the guy sent me the wrong one in the end, it took me a few days and a hell of a lot of research to find out how to put it right!

If you do get one from ebay though, make sure you read and follow the instructions very carefully, there is a very big difference between sat nav versions and the wrong disc can nacker your unit (disc won't come out, wipes old software, won't install new one etc)!

I bought one from one of those searches google throws up (cant remember the name and am not certain if I could/should post it up anyway).

It works lovely (touch wood), has speed cameras etc and an "M" splash screen on start up.

Think it was £30 or so.

But will it work on your unit? I would guess that if it was a main dealer/direct, they would be able to tell you, but if you have version 3 (which you probably have), the discs for any newer version won't necessarily work.

Someone told me before that the only way to tell if it will work is if you have 'DVD' or something written on the front of the unit in the boot. If you have, it will work, but if not, it won't. Apparently has something to do with the format of the discs that the newer versions are on, presumably they are on DVD's instead of data discs or something?

Mk3 is CD and Mk4 is DVD based.

I would guess as its an 02 there is a high possibility of it being CD.

yes, its definitely a MK3 CD based system. The dealer used my chassis code to look up the price so it should work...

You do realise they're pirated ones, don't you?

Genuine ones don't have 7 digit postcodes or speed cams enabled.

I bought from Rusty at www.bmw-satnav.co.uk as well. give him a call, he's very helpful and offered second to none service. He's got all the CD's with 2011 maps, cameras, perspective view and postcode search. Its not 100% perfect, but the e46 pro nav will unfortunately always be crap!

At £20-£25 per disc rather than £100+ that the dealers want I'd have thought most folks would have taken it for granted.
I did take it for granted, but I assumed no-one would be silly enough to promote it on here so blatantly.

Anyway, if you're worried about spending £100 when you could get it for £20, then why don't you simply download it for £0?

If you're going to use a pirated copy, then why pay someone when you can get it for free?

And your point is?.....

Because it's cheaper to let someone else do the copying and burning of the disc than use my time.

If the BMW dealer sourced discs were more reasonably priced and also had TMC enabled perhaps people wouldn't be so reluctant to part with their money.
