As per the other thread i tagged onto, going to have a bit of money to play with soon.

£5k i could quite happily go all out daft with and try and make a fortune out of it. If it works, i'll bank half and do something risky with the other half. If it fails, i'll go back to paying off property/building the pot.

So how would you go about it? Something a little more sound than betting on a race-horse but i'd like to see returns pretty quickly, month or 2 at most.

Spread betting. I don't believe their is a more efficient way to lose money while claiming to be 'investing' not 'gambling'.

To be honest, if you're looking returns in a month (or two, max) you don't have much option but to gamble.

Club together with some mates as I believe there's a Mother Load of Snap On tools for sale on ebay in a job lot at the moment. Apparently they could be split and sold for significantly over the job lot auction value.

There certainly is, even the seller seems reasonably clueless to what's there.

23k? laugh

They would fill the garage nicely but not exactly an investment!

You want an investment with a decent return in 2 months. As others have said 'gambling' is pretty much the only way to make big money (or lose big money). Buying and selling that lot would be a fair amount of work, but it would be a quick turn around and (potentially) a big % return on the capital invested.

How much exactly do you think you'd get back from that lot?

Doubt you'd make much, if any at all.

Read the thread and judge for yourself. There's a few people going crazy for this:
http://track-days.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... need any tools ?

Problem is that if you look at the number of views on the auction then there's a good chance that most of the potential profit will be priced out of it by the time the auction concludes.

It's not something I would punt >£25k into that's for sure. But I mentioned it on your thread as a possible idea for someone wanting to make a quick buck who doesn't mind a bit of risk. If you do your research on what that stuff sells for on ebay in smaller lots, then you could probably work out an estimate of your expected return. Less risky than some things you can do with £25k, but still not for me as I don't have the time nor inclination to do the required research.

Nah, i don't think there's anywhere near the value of tools people are suspecting in there. Lots of pics of the same tools from different angles. Someone is going to get burnt methinks.

I wasn't laughing at your suggestion really, just the £23k it's already sitting at with 2 days to go.

I'm all for buying something, putting in a bit of work (re-packing, rebuilding or whatever) and selling it on.

Other than that, gambling it is! If i go down that route, expect a thread on it thumbup

Awesome. biggrin

Shame football season is largely over. There are a couple of matches I've played with. I've been behind some under 19s. Wait, let me rephrase that. I laid the Spanish Under 19s team. Wait, let me rephrase that, too. scratchchin

I've had a look at tennis, in-game but you really need to know what the hell is going on. I don't even understand the game. I know you have to smack a ball over a net but that's it. Horseys - well, there are some opps pre-race.
