steve heaths bible shows the door solenoid the "other" way up to mine. ie - its still vertical but coming from the top of the car down towards the bottom. Mine sits beneath the lock and pushes upwards.

I have in my possession both a 2 wire and a 5 wire solenoid. However, I cant for the life of me get the existing solenoid out from the car. The fibreglass piece that TVR brilliantly designed to sit directly in front of the solenoid blocks the view to see how its attached. Any pointers?

getting very annoyed with the sodding thing now

undid the 3 bolts (allen key) in the back of the door sill and removed the actual door opening mechanism. also attached in there was a metal "cage" which sat between the door opening mechanism and the inside of the door and clamped in place with the same allen key bolts (ie between the door and the opening mechanism.

The solenoid is fixed to the metal plate which is L shaped and required some maneouvring to get it out. this needed complete removal as the solenoid was actually screwed to this metal plate with phillips screws from the back of the plate through to the solenoid. Rewired the new solenoid - was asked either 2 wire or 5 wire and it was in fact 4 wire ) and voila. Re-screwed to metal plate, put back together and one working solenoid. now i just need to reseal with black sealant.

apologies for the lack of description previously. i typed it all out and then went to post and my PC went pop. couldnt be arsed to write it all again last night!
