Marks and Spencers. 4k single item limit for unspecified items. Above 4k and you need to record them and prove it with receipts etc

Maybe you'll just have to off set the risk and accept the 4K max on a household policy. I've done this, my MTB is probably 3k to replace but I have opted for 2K insurance to keep the cost down. My thinking is I never let the bike out of my sight when I'm out riding and it is locked securely away at home. So the likely hood of it being nicked is low and I would get something if the worse did happen.

M&S are really good, and a friend who had his garage cleared out has got some very nice replacements, no hassles at all. BUT, now M&S don't want to know him, have doubled his premiums and will insure to a max of £1k from now on. Needless to say he's gone elsewhere. Generally premiums seem to be about 10%, which seems pretty high to me considering there isn't a 10% risk of my bikes going walkies.

in my experience most cycle specific insurance is 10% of the value of the bike PA. Which is ridiculous.

Declaring it on your household insurance is the way forward, and as mentioned above M&S are excellent for this.
