Morning and what a glorious day!

I'm taking the wife on a trip to Belgium and then down to Reims for our anniversary and wondered what if anything I should be doing to the Tam's headlights??

I have the obligatory warning triangle and high vis' jacket and suppose a GB sticker ought to be adorned.

Thanks in advance.

Theres not really anything you can do maybe try a bit of gaffer tape to knock out the bright spot. when I went over last I did not do anything nor did all the others I travelled with.

Splendid will risk it and take a roll of tape in case of a brush with the gendarm's.

I have just returned from France on the northern coast and did all the hi vis stuff (which needs to be in the car apparantly)and head lights etc. Predictably our 6 car convoy got stopped once - we went through 4 set-up spot checks in the 3 days. The car they picked on had no GB id of any sort and no headlight stickers. They were most interested in V5 to prove ownership. After a few minutes they let him on his way with a warning. It might of been different if we had been caught speeding, but all 4 police set-ups we saw were police standing in roundabouts, randomly picking cars to pull over.

Fantastic roads and so traffic free.

Excellent will add V5 to the list as probably wouldn't have thought of that.

May risk the GB sticker also and just have one handy should I need to slap one on - problem with the Tam is it's @rse isn't conducive to stickers - they don't stick well due to the curved back and look gastly.

Looking forward to it although not sure 'her in doors' realises quite how noisy it's going to be having only been out for a couple of leisurely drives since I bought her 1.5 years ago smile

For Le Mans I put a small Europe logo with GB underneath (3" x 1.5") on the left edge of the rear plate then remove when i get home. Only costs a couple of quid and you can get it from Halfrauds or some local petrol stations.

Suggest you also take a copy of your insurance and always handy to have breakdown cover that includes repatriation

I usually put a couple of strips of black insulating tape on each headlight cover, just to show willing.

With regard to the GB sticker, Halfrauds sells a small rear number plate sticker - blue, EU circle of stars with 'GB' at the bottom - and just stick this on the LH side of the plate. Obviously mimics the type of plate you can buy with this as a permanent feature. This negates the need for a separate GB sticker and doesn't affect any bodywork.
