The thread on TC being standard on all cars got me thinking.

Wouldn't it save a lot of excuses and possibly lives if it was law that Bluetooth had to be standard on all cars..Say from 2013 onwards for example.. ?

It cant cost a lot to integrate in and even models that don't receive major facelifts that often could be supplied with a Parrot type device instead..

Or am I going soft and thinking the state should hold our hands too much?

This might have been done before but search is broken (for me at least)

More cotton wool ? No f-ing way.

It's up to the manufacturers to choose whether they would like to do this, and for the customer to choose to spec/aftermarket.

Not meaning to sound arsey, but what negative effect could this have on the people who dont want it. Isnt it a win-win situation?

I don't oppose having the bluetooth capability as such.

I oppose the principle which is being applied to bring in additional legislation affecting car manufacturers because a few people choose not to follow an existing law.

I can propose many other suggestions, which I may exaggerate to make a point, which will also be a win-win situation when you take personal preferences out of it. To start with, why not just ban cigarettes ? Who would not benefit ?
