I haven’t seen the above commented on, would be quite interesting! it could also just be contract boosting comments from button, but who knows, he has probably faced a bigger challenge going to Mclaren and taking Lewis on.

car wise, it could be hit and miss, and the heart is certainly with Alonso, however i think Jensen would win the hearts and minds of the tifosi, who given his consistency would perfectly compliment alonso in help bringing the next WCC to ferrari...

Hamilton WILL not join Ferrari and i think this season will wear off Mark Webber to the point he will probably retire. Perez will need one more season.

I guess he has a World Championship so it's about fulfilling his team ambitions.

With where he is in his career, I don't think he'll be more competitive in a Ferrari than a McLaren.

Your first point was my thoughts exactly, he will probably be selfish, i think he will be as competitive as the car is to be honest. If the F666999111th italia f20 (the likely name of the next ferrari) was on par with the macs and the reggies then he has a good chance of winning. Beating Alonso? not so sure

I'd be surprised if Button went to Ferrari. He'd, without doubt, be number 2 driver and would feel like that.

i would imagine he might say yes to Button, Unaware he would be unintentionally slipping a turd into the punchbowl

Ferrari, of course, but I can't see Jenson choosing to play number 2 to alonso, who looks to be quite settled.

Although with both ferrari and alonso, sudden changes of heart can't be ruled out.

I think the 2nd Ferrari seat is a very interesting question, but I doubt it will be from any of the current top flight - I guess they will go for a young developing driver or GP2 entrant.

This must be the tenth name linked to replacing Massa at Ferrari!

I can only see two tedious reasons for Button to consider such a move,
1) A story for his grand-children of the romantic Ferrari
2) A nod to Alain Prosts career
Very tedious at best.

Stacks of money means nothing compared to another championship, the car would be inherently 'pointy' as per Alonsos style & not his & he would always be the rear-gunner to Alonso. Plus i've heard he isn't keen on pasta...

If Perez needs one more season, Ferrari would have to wait for a few years at least before signing him to get rid of the driver they do sign for 2012. So I don't think they'll wait around.

I don't see Jenson going to Ferrari now, too old. I think Perez has this. He is a great driver and only 21, a great investment for the future when Alonso retires (maybe in 2016 when the Ferrari contract expires).

I totally agree with this!! Not a chance of this happening.. Button has stated on TV (so seen coming from his lips) that he wants to finish his career at McLaren and McLaren/Martin Whitmarsh (again also seen coming from his lips on TV) have stated that they are happy for him to do so!!

i can't see button leaving to join ferrari, why would he? the mclaren team looks great, second best to red bull, in terms of "enjoyment" and respect.

I'd like to see Rosberg get the seat.

I can't see it to be honest I can't see any top driver being number 2 to Alonso they are more likely to go for a rookie from a country where they need to sell more cars.

Jenson is not that daft, he has a good car under him, and a good team. He has not been in Lewis shadow and I think they compliment each other well. Lets see what the next few races bring, I'm sure we will see Lewis or Jenson winning.

+1 - what's in it for Ferrari? Button's an experienced driver who is at best at least half way through his career, aside from pace what does he have to offer? Not a big Alonso fan, but do think he's a good team leader so far better for team to get a young, fast driver in who can learn from him and give best chance of continuity when he goes

I am a fan of them both, i think if JB wins a race that LH thinks he could win we will see more carbon flying

Sadly, I'm not expecting a competitive return for 2012. Much as I wish it otherwise. Aside from Lauda, I can't remember a driver returning to such a competitive level in recent years, after such extensive injuries.

I hope I'm wrong, I think he is one of the top 3/4 drivers in the last 20 years.

One thing that has struck me is the absence of any pics/video interviews since the accident - or did I miss them? - or is it not his style.. you know the kind of thing, "Video message to my fans... getting better... thanks for all your support"

I'd hope the Beeb'd be on the case if he was up for talking, gonna be a big story when it ultimately happens
