yeah it was the guys checking all the SFI tags on the pro cars came to my pit and im guessing everyone elses to tell us about it so we had warning of it and not a nasty surprise at the end of the year

Least they give heads up. Way this is mounting up will be easier/cheaper in long run for us to buy a running 5.50 car and import it.

Steve Harker is selling his for $130,000 all in.

Think I had better get sponsor hunting...

We too were told of this at the weekend (tmfc). To teams that have to make the switch its a very big layout of money and i hope it doesnt do too much damage to class sizes. Its another big chunk of change to find from budgets that are probably stretched already for most "pro" teams

Hey Ricky, I thought we had a chat at the weekend and you said that you were not going to bother posting on this forum anymore... biggrin

I can understand your and Graham's frustration at these rules. When you have committed to spend large on a racing project in the first place and then keep getting new rules thrown at you which tends to favour the US equipment manufacturers profit margins then it is a wonder that we have any drag racing at all in Europe. If the excuse is safety then what incidents have there been in justifying this new one regarding carbon braking systems?

I thought carbon brakes were useless unless they were hot. Would they get up to temperature quickly enough to be any use in a sub seven second car?

Is it not better to use a better breaking system before there is an accident, rather than waiting until there is one.

The NHRA made that mistake by running full 1/4 mile with inadequate shutdown area and only acting once there was an accident.

carbon brakes on a pro mod are invaluable
I only still have a car because i have them,
5k against the price of even a budget pro mod is good insurance

they heat up realy quick
et has nothing to do with it its speed and weight

I for 1 100% agree with it not because i have it because its saved my car... Mantorp last year the last place in europe you want a chute falier A big save worthy of a round of applause from the top end crew as i got it round the corner....euro finals last year 220 with no chutes stopped 30 ft befour the field and was real late realizing i had no chutes
invaluable

they are only an extra unwarrented expence as long as your chutes never fail....

Update.....just been told its rear brakes only so thats about 3K

Graham has clearly indicated in his post that there is a need for the new rule and I am therefore satisfied...

well as the only other sensible alternative was voted out at the fia commision meeting last weekend and that was double calipers on the rear axle,

that would have been cheaper

I am not against safety, but for Euro racers this is a hard hit. Just the backs makes it better but its still a few quid.

I spoke to Mark Norton last night he thinks it includes fronts, he will let me know as soon as he is sure,
my info from yesterday afternoon was that it dosnt but mark will clear that up

To be honest might as well do fronts at same time, if its not now it will be in future.
