Want to go to Italy in early July.
I keep being told it will be too hot, but checking out average temps it's cooler than other places I have been which have been fine like Egypt.
Not decided yet on 7/10/14 nights yet, but fancy seeing both the lakes and then having some time in the Amalfi coast.
Anyone been in July before? Any recommendations? Last time I was there I was 15 so don't remember much,

I went in July 2 years ago, and was up in the North.
Depends on your definition of "too hot". Bologna was probably the hottest, but given it's famed for being the home of Gelato I'm not sure that being hot there is a bad thing.
Probably about 30-35c in the sunshine. We did get a sweat on going up the tower thing.
Then up in the Dolomites snow fell during one storm!
If it's an "active" holiday and you're planning cycling or serious walking you might struggle a bit, if you're a lazy mofo like me that uses holidays to drink lots of cold beer and eat ice cream then you'll be fine.
