Hello! Long time lurker, first time poster.
Discussion
Hello one and all.
I didn't want to just wade into the forums without having the common courtesy to introduce myself to the PH masses. It's been a while since I've seen an introductory post on here, so mods if this is in the wrong place please feel free to move it.
I'm Steve, I live in the North West and cars & motorsport are one of the few things I'm truly passionate about. As suggested in the title I've been lurking around these parts for a while... I know a 335d (mapped) is the fastest car in the world, that the oxo tower is a dark, mysterious, naughty place, I remember 911 motorsport ruining a kettle and perhaps most importantly I know that anything I post can and will be torn apart by the PH grammar police.
So what's in a name? Well the name Barbon Star comes the Barbon Hill climb in Cumbria, run by Westmorland motor club. My father was the clerk of the course there for a number of years, and it was this that properly ignited my passion for cars. The star itself was awarded to those who made it up the hill in a ridiculously quick time.
Seeing Ginettas, Pilbeams, 7s, Metro 6r4s and UR Quattros being hussled along a tiny ribbon of tarmac when you're a nipper is absolutely mesmerising. I used to stand by the tyre warming strip just so the smell would get in my clothes and I could take it home with me long after the day had finished.
Anyway, I'm starting to ramble. In summary, cars good, PH good, nice to be here.

Cheers guys! It feels weird to actually be posting for a change.
I just don't like seeing someone making their first post halfway through an ongoing thread and the thread becoming clogged with greetings! Or even worse finding a 4 year old thread and performing a resurrection of biblical proportions.

HelloI'm fairly new aswell, but I agree with you about doing a Introduction Speech as hopefully people will rememeber little bits about you.
Here is mine:

Just rememeber aswell, If someone suggests a Mazda MX-5, just agree with them. It's in the contract.

Look forward to your posts!

You seem to get the idea, so here’s a Few further pointers:
- If you mention confrontation, also mention whether you are powerfully built
- If you see Jason Plato's car outside a launderette, don’t bother waiting for him
- Buy a jar of Custard at the soonest opportunity
- Never, ever bad mouth an MX5
- Never mention a "David & Goliath" moment

Welcome.
This is another handy one to add to your favourites too:

I thought it was customary (compulsory?) to pretend to be a woman when introducing ones self on here?
This is all tyre smoke, oily rags and beards., which is all well and good but not half as funny as watching the PH masses fawning over some huge hairy builder called Bernard pretending to be Kate from Romford
