E36 charity banger rally car bought!
Discussion
Just agreed to buy a Black 1999 E36 323i Coupe for a charity rally to Czech Republic in September. It's got a huge 180k on it but it's a one owner car with a full BMW service history and a vast folder of bills . Apart from a couple of bits of rust it is in remarkably good condition. Bog standard spec so not hugely luxurious but it does have air conditioning which is ice cold. Brand new MOT and tax and recent ABS pump, alternator and rear brake pipes.
I initially wanted an early E39 but for the money we can spend, they are ropey so we have settled for this one. It's local as well as we didn't fancy travelling the country to buy a banger.
It drives very well indeed for such an old car. Engine still very smooth with no rattles or smoke. No obvious bangs from suspension or drivetrain. Interior pretty much immaculate with no rips or smells! So many cars at this price are knackered, have no history or have been chavved to the max. We might have got a better spec/lower mileage but judging by the grammer and spelling in the majority of the adverts, my view on how some of the cars have been maintained is (perhaps unfairly) tainted.
A slightly nicer set of wheels would be nice - the 16" double spokes would be fine and leather would have been ideal, but for 700 odd quid, you can't be too fussy!
Hopefully it'll get us there and back (via the 'ring!)
Any one with any spares, let me know and any 'must know' tips from E36 experts would be appreciated
Bring on the rally!

I suppose this doesn't really matter if you are cruising though.
