Thinking of buying a newish 90 or 110 XS

A Defender has always been on my wishlist and I am hoping to get one in a month or two. It will be a second car and I'm planning to use it for weekends away surfing, throwing the dogs in and hopefully a bit of light green lane fun.

I'm planning to get a 2007/8, is there anything I should look out for? Is the LR Warranty any good?
Also can a warranty from LR be put on it once it has expired or is it worth trying to find one still under warranty.
