Quick question guys, my wife has managed to lose the one key we have for her VW Sharan, so I'm now wondering what my options are to get a replacement. I guess I can phone a VW dealer and then expect I'll be told I'll have to get it recovered to their premises, but I've also come across some outfits that say they can come out to you and provide replacements. Anybody got any experience with this...what's my best bet?

My parents recently managed to lock their keys inside their Audi TT. The Audi dealer supplied replacent keys from the chassis number. Took a couple of days. I suspect VW are the same as Audi!

Guess I will end up calling VW, but has anyone used one of the many Auto Locksmiths that a quick Google search brings up?

Had this when I lost the only key for my old Mk4 golf. All of the lock places I tried could do most keys apart from vw. Ended up having to get one from VW, £164 iirc. Bargain.

That coupled with some very shoddy service means I'll never buy another VW as long as I live..........

If you're complaining about the price, that's at the low end, a lot of them are over £200.

Probably too late. But there's a place out in West London somewhere called "KLK" or similar and they supply the keys to VAG dealers cheaply.

Obivously, once you have the key you need to get the immobiliser and central locking coded to it.
