Ran the ZR-1 at the Performance Test & Tune session up the Pod today. Track was super sticky & she hooked up with 4.5 K launches on the drag radials, luckily no breakages.

Result? 12.5s/110mph

Not bad for a stock block ZR-1 with headers.

My new number plate:-

Z06's for breakfast/368's for lunch

Wicked, damn good times.

What was the waiting like? Last time I went to the pod I said I won't bother again:

waited 2 hours for first run, 1 hour for the second, then the queue was past the toilets after that so I went home!

I remember when you could run the quarter and keep running until you got fed up with it!

Thanks guys, there were a few Roger Moore eyebrows up the Pod when I told them it's stock apart from headers and exhaust. Nice to show them what a 14-year old Corvette can still do.

Malc, it wasn't busy because it was a John Webster performance tuning day. £12 to get in and £50 to sign on means:- no queues (well 5 cars max), no hatchbacks and the track was treated with superglue. The traction was so good I saw a couple of guys bust their clutches and half shafts. Big bonus was the Pro Mods and Top Fuellers were up there practising for the big meet next weekend.

Joe, I'll be round tomorrow to look at the 368 and make you an offer on it...

But a stock Z06 has done 12.8 in most Motor Trend tests on street tyres and in last year's shootout a stock Z06 ran 12.44 @116.54. Wonder what it would do on slicks....paerhaps "Dines with Z06's at breakfast, eats 348's for lunch"

My Z06 ran 12.66 at Elvington last year with no mods, except the blackwing. I suspect it might just beat the ZR-1's once the TT kit is up and running......but we shall see.

BTW Rich I am pleased to see at least one of the team is practicing for TOTB III, just don't break it before the big day!

Just bought a set of BIG Brembos rotors for the purpmobile, bloody hell they were expensive!

Contemplating a quick diff change at TOTB so we can do the handling circuit and 1/4 mile on the 4.10:1 and in the morning and run the top speed on a 3.54:1 in the afternoon!

When are you at the Pod (or wherever) again Richard? I wondered if I could join you? I have not tried drag racing and really have no idea what the car will do.

Hi Geoff, I'm up the Pod again in early July, I'll let you know nearer the time. Would be fun to get a few others up there if possible.

Your plan to swap the diff seems like a good idea, best of both worlds.

BTW how do the 4.10's perform on acceleration in your experience compared to the 3.45s? I think the Z needs more oomph low down and am still thinking about the 4.10s.

Come and drive mine. Its bog stock except for a little F Plan high fibre diet and the 4.10:1 CWP.
We had everything (with one exception) off the line at Bruntingthorpe but the top end is only 167 mph give or take. If you are in the 12? Mph in the 1/4 that should not be an issue.

V good times!,We hope to be ready to run again at the "POD" in early July also and would love to meet up and test our new set up,our car is back in for its full and final mods at the end of June and were also trying to get in as many test days as possible before TOTB3.Would you guys have a problem with us running with you?To be honest I don,t really care how well we do at TOTB3 , as long as we keep beating our own times. Our last trip to the POD a few weeks ago netted a 11.6 @ 126mph but sadly we only managed 3 runs so couldn,t master a good take off(2 much wheel spin!).

Venom, would be great to head up the Pod together, there's a RWYB on 10th July, I shall be there. I'll post to remind everyone.

Hope I don't line up against you tho'. With a set of drag radials and a good track you might just break into the 10's. I'd be interested to know what mods you've got, but I guess you'd have to shoot me afterwards. It might slip out after several beers at the Swan.

Thanks for the offer Geoff, I'll take you up on that.

1oth of July is the Euro Vette/Viper meeting in Hockenheim, so we will be in Germany that weekend, so won't be able to make it. Sunday 4th of July is the TOTB III practise day at Elvington and I am gonna try and make that.
