I am really tempted by this little number. Has anyone any experience, be it good bad or indifferent of Fortis in general, as i dont see many of them referenced on these threads....?

I have a Fortis Flieger (i.e. not the chronograph) as my daily. Great value in my opinion. Keeps good time and is robust. I did notice that the strap was wearing more than I was expecting so I bought a strap from The Strap Shop so I could put the original strap aside.

I bought mine from Neil at Chronomaster and had no complaints with the service.

Have a look at Sinn as an alternative.

I've had 3 Fortis watches & like them all.

They do depreciate a bit though, so just bear that in mind if you're thinking about buying new & consider the Sinn 356 as a cheaper and less depreciation prone alternative of at least equal build quality.

i have 2, a black faced flieger chrono and a white faced flieger(the one on the left as pictured above),they seem well made, have a good look to them.i had problems with the chronograph after 6 months when it started to steam up inside.i took it back to the dealer, who said 'they sometimes do that sir'!,bulls###t i thought,so took it to another authourised dealer who sent it straight back to fortis who replaced it with a brand new one.result!
the white one i brought in rhodes whilst on hols,i'd spotted this one about 3 yrs before in the same jewellers, the sun had got to it and bleached the face, picked it up for a barry bargain price of 200 euros!once home,i popped it into the local dealer who sent it off under warranty, and guess what? yet another brand new replacement was sent out by fortis.result!

in my experience,i'm very happy with thembiggrin

i believe when nasa where using omega speedmasters as there watch of choice for space missions, the russian cosmonaughts where issued with fortis items.
go for 1 with sapphire crystal though as both of mine have normal glass and tend to pick up scratch's now and again.

I can really only add to the positive comments, having a Fortis B42 Pilot Pro Chronograph. It's a substantial piece, very well made and has been reliable and accurate. You don't tend to see Fortis watches every day so if you like wearing something a bit different, they are a great choice.

Unfortunately mine may have to go as I am reducing my collection

those two white ones are fantastic, out of my price range though probably, what models are they?

If you do come to get rid, drop me a PM!

Good to hear all the positive feedback about fortis as a brand. They seem like a cracking company with regard to damages/warranty etc.

This is the part i hate, as now im fighting the urge to go out and bloody buy one.(!)

Here's mine:

They're quite rare (I've never met anyone else with a Fortis), and I like having the spaceflight/fast-jet provenance with the watches.

I bought it new 5 years ago, and it gets quite a lot of wrist time. It needs a service, as it has started running 30secs fast/day; I don't reckon I've accidentally magnetized it, and it's a bog-standard ETA movement anyway. The bezel ratchet also started throwing the occasional fit after a couple of years, although I use the bezel several times a day as part of my job so it has probably suffered more wear and tear than most. The AR coating is double-sided, and there are quite a few marks on the external AR now, although they only show up at certain angles. The sapphire crystal itself is unmarked.

I think the Fleiger chrono looks great, and I've always considered having one. Have you seen it in the flesh? It's quite striking. It's a good size as well; my Cosmonaut is 38mm, yet wears quite small due to the bezel making up a fair proportion of that width. I often wish I'd gone for a 40mm Flieger or a B42. My 41mm Hydroconquest looks enormous beside the Fortis.

I don't think the exact model of the Flieger (on the left) is still made but it I only paid about £200 for mine pre-owned. The B-42 Marinemaster is still made, but with a different bezel. They have great lume

Matt, look at 'Ball' watches, same price and great build quality and finish. I tried a trainmaster on a few weeks ago and was very impressed.

I've had a couple of the ducati corse limited editions and I think they look/feel/work great and I wear it probable more than my rolex/panerai/tag (but then I am a ducati amoral lol!). Currently have this chronograph with carbon face and have bought some nice hirsch leather straps to compliment it. Housing is a bit thick but you can tell when it's on the wrist. Some great looking examples above BTW.

Picked up an issue of WatchWorld while passing through the airport. Good article on Fortis watches (issue 6). Very good magazine actually, can't put it down. .
