In the new spirit of glasnost, I've nothing to do with the organisation of this session, but I've paid my money and booked on. Anyone else going from PH or just the usual suspects?

Lets hope for a dry day. All this skating about in the rain is fine for fuel economy and tire wear but it would be nice to drive KH in the dry again. My calculations have the car doing 12mpg in the wet last night, against 4mpg in the dry on track eek Suddenly 12mpg looks good.

Also plotting the Dreadnought session on the Thursday before but currently looks like I may be away for that one. And only a day to fettle the car between outings if I make it scratchchin

Any other PH folks up there today?

A few in-car videos showing the changing weather from dry smile to damp to wet frown I cut the clips to ones with traffic as I guess no-one wants to see laps on an empty track.

The first one is in the dry and includes the MX5, Elises, Honda, Race Mini, and Caterhams
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhYT9RqxIRQ

Starting to rain but still decent grip with Clio, Elises, Scoob, MX5, Ferrari, Exige, Caterhams, 340R
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-WEhWO-1aU

Getting damper now with Caterhams, Elises, Mini (type R mid-engined), Honda, Scoob (goes cross country at Clarks), 340R.

And now we’re talking wet and slidey for the brave or foolhardy. Fun at the hairpin and breaking traction all over the place, but with assorted Elises, MX5, Scoob, Scoobywagon, Mini (type R mid-engined),

I was there biggrin

I think this is the only shot I have of you just starting a nice powerslide out of the hairpin, accompanied by thunderous roar from the exhaust smile

More shots here if anyone is interested: http://www.flatoutphotography.com/gallery3/KH11061...

Thanks

John

I was there - missed you in the TVR i think but it looks frighteningly quick in your videos!

TheFin - I must have been just behind you - as I came onto that straight I saw the deer leaping over the fence to get out of the area. That looked bloody close and you did well to avoid them!!

I havent got any photos or video - was going to put my camera on later but then it rained :-(

I was there in the VX220. The TVR sounded great, and full marks for going out towards the end in the heavy rain. Bet that was scary, was hard enough keeping the VX in a straight line!

Good footage from an unusual angle. Where was the camera mounted? I'm trying to work out what the wavy black donut style border is?

the black wavy border is just my number plate (left), and the body work (right). The bracket I used made it sit a little too far back- oops!

I enjoyed your vids tvrolet, you seem to be going around about the same lap times as me from your vids (about 61s) do you know what your best was? I'm sure I remember seeing a video of yours that was very very quick. like, very quick.

Working away from home this week, and the times are downloaded on my old laptop at home. From what I recall though the best was high 59s, with the clear dry laps mostly in 59/60 - bit slower in the damp and waaaay slower in the wet. Not sure about very very quick laps in my hands though. The best I've seen on the logger is a 58 something-or-other, but it has shown theoreticals and rolling laps in the 57s; if I could only string it all together in a single lap! I know I'm a woose braking early at both the hairpin and the end of the straight. But having had brakes fail on me coming into the hairpin (not in this car) it's a habit I just can't get out of and brake later. Someone with larger gonads than me could shave a fair bit of time off I guess.

I'm also hitting the rev limiter now in 3rd ahead of Clarks so 'coasting' for a few yards before braking (not really worth changing up), and also hitting the limiter in 4th just at the bridge on the straight so easing off there too. I plan to put in a higher ratio diff when I get the time to see if that makes any significant difference overall.
