Fault code reader for 2003 TDCi Mondeo?
Discussion
Hold down the trip meter reset button (IIRC) while turning the car on. The dash should go into a secret diagnostics mode. Keep pressing the reset button to cycle through each mode, including displaying the error codes.
BTW, the guage check mode is great - swings all the needles on the dash (ie. speedo, revs, temp etc) through their full travel
I reckon the car should do this every time it starts.

+1 It also does that when the battery has been disconnected, like you say it really should do it every time. Easily pleased

Found the codes and have read up a little more on the dash diagnostic. I'm getting dtc none which is good. However I have found threads that say it doesn;t always show all the faults on the dash and a reader is still the best bet.
So, the U580 code reader is said to be the one to go for. Now just to find one as the bay of e doesn't seem to have any at the moment.
