Todays cooking tip,

Always check to make sure that the Pizza you're putting in the oven doesn't have a polystyrene circle underneath.

From my mother-in-law's repertoire:

When cooking a joint of beef, ensure that the dial says "Oven" and not "Grill"

Nom nom not.

My mum - cherry surprise. She liquidised the cherrys without taking the pips out, was a little crunchy. "no mum its fine, just suck it though your teeth"

The classic was she used to make pies and put them in the freezer unlabeled. Roast potatoes - check
veg - check
gravy- check

Pie - apple DOH

Fantastic. reminds me of the first time I went to meet my girlfriend's folks. We had a lovely homecooked meal, but pudding was steak pie and custard.

here's mine, if you a doing a roux when adding the milk make sure it is very very hot before you add it to the butter and flour. Use the microwave. It makes it a lot easier.

I think Cotty's mum wins it with 'apple pie and gravy' though...
