Having recently bought an E46 M3 I did the usual stupid thing and decided research the car AFTER buying it.

Owning an S50 ///M already I was semi aware of the con rod problems with the S54 etc , etc.

According to the link above mine should be safe being an April 2002 build - anyone know different?

My question - has anyone here had the failure and are there any warning signs?

I'm going to speak to BMW this morning to check to see if mine has been recalled - if not will they still do it given its 9 years old with 26k miles on the clock?

well, you can all breathe again - mine has infact been done.

The kind lady even sent me a pdf of the service bulletin recall and a confirmation of it being completed
