If you have received this call check your bank statements now it appears a lot of people have

I had a answer phone message from Santander today, i called an automated service giving my details ,I assumed this to be a scam and not safe but as it turned out it was genuine.

They asked if i had made a payment for £8217.21 which i had not I did ask who to but they refused to tell me, it appears that someone has got into my account or stolen a cheque book, i then asked if any other cheques had been paid the answer was no.

My wife just called into the bank and £1847.29 has been paid out to someone but Santander will not say who to,i googled the phone number santander left on my answer phone and it appears that lots of people have had the same call, I called Santander Fraud telephone number again to try and get some information, They said that the Fraud Department was dealing with this and to call back next week, they were very busy and that i would get the money back.

Just a Heads up to anyone who banks with Santander,
I did ask if accounts had been hacked the guy on the telephone said i can not comment but the fraud department is exceptionally busy

Thanks for the heads up, I had one of those automated calls in Jan after paying a particularly big credit card bill.

I'll keep an eye on my account just in case Santander have got "issues"
