Hello guys, a while ago I read a topic here about people replacing the T350 rear window's bolt covers because they were getting a bit of the grey-white weathered worn out look. My bolt covers are still looking pretty good but parts of the hard plastic strip covering the window's top edge did start to show some grey-white. Replacing that strip was on my to-do list.

But not anymore! When a (BMW fanatic) friend of mine saw the T350 he did notice the rear window strip and asked me why I had not put peanutbutter on it. I thought he was joking but he was dead serious. Apparently BMWs have quite a bit of black hard plastic parts on the outside with the same weather suffering problems and put peanutbutter on them to get them back looking brand new.

I figured trying this could not hurt so today I set out towards my garaged armed with peanut butter. And to my surprise the hard plastic strip soaked up the peanut butter and turned back black again almost immediately! I was told it has to be traditional peanut butter (no low-fat for this purpose!) and it is the peanut oil doing the trick. So if any of you have the T350 rear window bolt covers or plastic cover strip at the window top looking slightly worn out, you might as well give this a go. I have no idea if the effect is permanent or that it has to be reapplied every now and then (I think that is more likely) but I was so happy with how it looks already that I needed to share it with peers possibly facing the same problem smile

Perhaps this effect is well known and if so I do apologize for superfluous posting, but to me it was a big surprise.

Interesting!

I hope nobody tries this trick in an area where bears live (US, Alaska etc.!)

Yes nut oil can nourish the plastic/rubber trims/seals.

I prefer the more technical approach though, 'Aerospace 303 protectant' for me. Gummi-pflege is the stuff to use to renew seals.

I used a black indelible ink marker pen on mine. Same for the black plastic caps on the rear screen.smile
