If its E46, isnt nice when cold frown
Kangaroo and hesitation are normal until oil gets warm.
I leave mine in auto/s2 and go very lightly on throtle for first few mins.

If your on about E9X, then ignore the above smile

yea e46, was missing badly and driving with no revs and exhaust was spluttering. all for about 30seconds then started to behave.
so took it for a cain as i thought it needed it smile

on a serious note, when moving forward slightly in 1st gear and putting the clutch back down its making a little rattle. again normal?

rattle may be a bit of tranmission shunt,
as for the misfire and not reving, that cetainly isnt right, mine is just a bit lumpy, never misfired and will rev no problem.
might need map sensor or something similar, sound like a fueling/air intake prob , get it on a dianostic machine with a bm specilist, prob need a sensor changing hopefully nothing to much.

hi mate from cold this is a characteristic of the car you can leave the engine warm up about 3 mins before driving or i have heard that the evolve remap will cure it......i just give mine time to warm up and it's smooth.....hope this helps....spin

Yeah, it's a bit of a feature, power delivery feels slightly hesitant as though it is stumbling. There's a reason for this for which I could dig out an explanation but in the OPs case I think something is actually amiss,(no pun intended honest), as he goes on to say:

I remember my E46 a few years ago. It was embarrassing when cold. Seemed like the throttle was to sensitive. Drove like a kangerroo(?sp)
