Ok so I haven't got time to trawl through the forum, so can anyone inform me of day to day MPG for the E60 M5... i mean realistically.. 20?

I get less than 20 in a 330i auto and it has 4 fewer cylinders, 280 less bhp and and is few hundred kilos lighter. I think the chances of averaging 20mpg in a M5 day to day are slim to say the least. (*waits for a stampede of M5 owners claiming the opposite*)

^^ mine is averaging 13mpg with a rather gentle right foot. A 70mph motorway run will see you hit mid to low 20's. In town will see the car average 10 to 13mpg. Don't be under any illusion that the M5 isn't an alcoholic. Its George Best x 10!

This, absolutely. I have averaged 16.2 over 20,000 miles and that is with a very gently motorway commute everyday.

Got mine yesterday (touring) so a little early to tell for sure....but once Id managed to flick the mpg from us to uk it was showing an average of 23 mpg on the 200 mile trip from London to North Wales...mixture of traffic jam/ low/ high speed motorway + fast A roads.

In comparison my old VXR8 supercharged which funnily enough are quite renowned for their long legged economy used to return 24mpg over the same type of drive. So after reading all the horror stories about low teens on the M car I'm pretty impressed so far thumbup

I have a mate who owns one and he reports 16mpg over the last 10k or so.. Thats a mix of country lanes and motorway.

Around town I get 15-16mpg at 30-40mph speeds, cruising on the motorway its easy to get 25mpg+ so long as your gentle on the throttle. Best I've seen from a tank of petrol was 370 miles on a trip to Wales (whereas day to day around town I get 200-220ish)

Interestingly the computer will not read BELOW 7mpg.... even when a full tank only lasts 70miles it's clearly less than 7 but the computer gets confused or doesn't want hippies to attack it so only reports 7mpg....

Fellow V10 Vmaxers will have experienced this suprising feeling of checking the petrol cap IS actually on!

spot on for urban. would lower the extra urban to 15-19, but I do like flooring it on Mways from 50 onwrds. that's what the car does best anyway smile
