Chaps, I've just received some information from an official source (old mate too), in the Beds/Herts/Cambs regions in the next few months there will be triple the count of unmarked traffic cops, specifically aimed at bouncing on the sportscar enthusiasts trouncing around on the A roads and M-ways.... Be aware, very aware! The info also suggests some of the cars to be used as unmarked vehicles will not be the standard cars that are regularly used.
Also the initiative to use mobile van cameras is escalating, be prepared for bridges and slip roads!

I've seen an unmarked Skoda Estate on the M11 pull someone over. I'd NEVER have slowed down for one of those

Ah yes, enthusisasts must be stamped out. Can't have anyone enjoying motoring can we? (though HM Govt would be screwed without our loot)

One day they will give us injections so we all sit on buses singing 'We love buses' with inane smiles on out faces....

Suspect there might need to be a new verse to the 'Wheels on the bus go round and round' song

Something along the lines of ..

'The drugged up sports car drivers on the bus go Wibble, wibble, wibble, Wibble, wibble, wibble'

If a dodgy looking car want's you to pull over unless they show identification I wouldn't. Too many tales of car-jacking happening.

The police should show a presence if they want to do this, not sneak in unmarked repmobiles/shopping trollies like they're Regan & Carter or those CID bozo's off The Thin Blue Line.

Thanks for the heads up, but please advise 'your mate' to send a message back up the line that the policy makers should spend the revenue received from our taxes a tad more wisely, and focus on the un-taxed, un-insured, un-Motd vehicles out there.......

I dont want any 'police bashing' posts aimed back at me because I have a sister in the old bill.

George Orwells prognosis looms ever closer.

Hmm - worrying.

I saw what looked like a scamera being operated out the back of an unmarked dark colour Discovery in a layby on an A road approaching Saffron Walden yesterday. There weren't even any warning signs nearby...

I just hope they take photos of the front of approaching cars rather than the rear of cars on the opposite side of the road...

I totally agree with your view, but the problem is, those who are untaxed/uninsured/unmot'd are normally either jobless (in which case, no money for the force through fines) or untraceable due to the DVLA having incorrect details on file....
The gatso epic made them a good few million, but people have wised up and generally do drive well within reasonable speeds around the areas these evil machines have popped up in (some damn right pointless, just to help increase their revenue), so these new attempts of increasing the number of mobile laser-cam vans and unmarked badgers will be another initiative... we all know maybe around 40-50% is public safety related and the rest is for their pockets.... cant wait for the day to come when the national speed limit drops by 20mph.... already coming down to 60mph in a number of areas.... I can see their pockets getting fatter.... oh well, at least they havent banned cars without airbags and ABS yet!

This has happened on a couple of roads near me recently - one especially has a number of Gatsos on and the limit suddenly dropped from 50 to 40 without any warning (that I could see anyway)!

The did put up signs about the change a week or so later, but I wonder how many people were caught out.

- note sure on the legislation for compulsorary airbags but from 1st July ABS is mandatory on all new cars sold in the UK. Except TVR of course!
