I am trying to sort out the front suspension from all the bits an pieces I inherited with this car.

What height should the base of the rack mounting face to the chassis be?

On my chassis, in the picture it's 55 mm (I know its slightly out of focus) - The previous owner hacked the chassis about quite a bit so he might have changed the height! rolleyes

Can anyone also confirm what is the correct rack for the 3000m, (TR6 or Triumph 2000?) I have a suspicion its the latter, I also discovered that I have a pair of shorted track rod arms in a box of bits I inherited, so god knows what kind of a hotch potch I have. I want to get the geometry roughly correct for 15" wheels without bump steer.

The OE mounts are 55mm with either square support mounts back to the cross brace (or in a turbo round to the side with dual 3/4 pieces as a cross brace) which I cannot see in your picture....the rack is Triumph, to say blindly a 2000 outright would be wrong as the internal track arm knuckle lock nut acts as a limit stop on TVR's and some 2000's run with this version and some without (from memory the without unit takes the rack to 4 1/4 lock to lock), that said, as long as you are using the trunnion limit stops this should not matter.

You would want to get rid of the rubber version of the rack mount for alloy AND the M runs with a 1/8 packer under that mount (standard or alloy)

My experience so far is that given the short wheelbase you are unlikely to need a quik rack - it's not a Triumph barge.

How very dare you smile

True, (not the barge bit), but 2.6 is hardly super fast, just fast + a 3000M has a fair bit longer wheelbase than our TVRs 90 vs 85.5". My TR4 is a 2.2 limited run rack Moss used to make. TR6 is the above 2.6 I think.

To my mind there is also merit in having a fast rack on a short car as if it steps out of line it will be pretty fast, so you will want to be able to correct it pronto.
