Someone started a similar thread somewhere else, but it's a good idea.

To get the ball rolling:

Palomar Mountain, San Diego County. The very windy road on the left is South Grade Road, built to get the observatory's mirror up there, so it's 270˚ hairpins all the way up the side of the mountain. East Grade comes back down the other side, 3rd and 4th gear corners, then a stretch of faster sweepers on 76 to connect them. Just under 27 miles, and possibly the perfect place to create an American Nordschleife (I reckon CA might fix their budget deficit if they did that and charged people by the lap...)

The roads around Rancho Santa Fe and Elfin Forest are also pretty special.

When I was younger the main road through the area I grew up in looked like Eau Rouge.

When I passed my test one of my first drives was back there to enjoy it.

I was greeted by speed bumps, a mini roundabout and the road branching off somewhere completely different halfway up frown

These roads in South Wales should be reserved for us PHrs hehe

(Okay so the racetrack may go through the odd village..)

A4059 - Great sweeping road with dramatic views of the surrounding mountains, and the added fun of sheep running across the road!

A4067 - Really nice view of the reservoir on this road, with some long straight sections to really get the speed up. Old Top Gear used this road to take the XJ220 down.

A4069 - Perhaps the most fun road of them all, with a great hairpin that even has it's own thread on here!

When I'm in a big paved path area, E.G Lighwater Valley, a big zoo etc. I always think, one day I'll hire the place out to myself with a few mates and some fast go-karts and muck around smile

haha, yes.Had much fun using the whole width of the road, going around the Kingston 1-way system when empty. especially on the north side of the town centre, when you have to turn left at the station, downn an under pass, go all the way round, then below the bridge for the train station and round to the left.

Kingston one way system would make a perfect street circuit. Especially after the bridge then you've got the long straight road where you could clock up some serious speeds.

There's some roads on the Isle of Man that i've always thought would make a good racing circuit.

I live right next to it and have always wanted someone to close the internal road of Richmond Park. Could become a local nurburgring! Don't hit the deer though hehe

Am I a bit naughty for exercising the car when inevitably caught at the Sutton traffic lights just before the 154 turns into the high street? Think that section's a bit of a drag strip in disguise.

Anybody who's taken the long route from Bridgwater to Yeovilton must think that that route is definitely worthy of track status. Light corners into hills into sweeping corners into tight corners, back into sweeping and finally into straights before the next village - plus the road is called cockrod!

Kingston one-way would be pretty good...

Piccadilly Circus down Haymarket, right into Pall Mall, then right uphill to St James and then right again onto Piccadilly to complete the loop makes a nice 1.1 mile mini circuit

I agree! When pootling around town I like to daydream that the local roads have been converted to a tarmac rally stage and plan how I'd attack each corner on the way to work, shops, etc. paperbag
