Teeside autodrome Monday 6th June
Discussion
What a brilliant automotive weekend.
Friday - Tenby - Sheffield to stay with friends, 250 miles.

Saturday - I have been suffering an intermittent overheating problem, so had resolved to remove the air con rad to improve airflow, flush the system and refill properly.

Good clean and polish, which was a long time overdue!

Sunday - Drive up to Newcastle, just to help a friend park a caravan, then down to Middlesborough. 230 miles.
Monday - Teeside Autodrome
A fantastic day. While low numbers may not be great for Track day organisers, they are brilliant for us, and with only 9 cars there was plenty of uncluttered track time available. The Organisers did go to some effort to chat with everyone, which led to a friendly sociable atmosphere.

I jumped in as a passenger in this:

Like nothing I have ever experienced before. Great fun!
For the price, This is a great little track. Very much enjoyed!
Monday/Tuesday 400 miles back to Wales. Near enough 1000 miles in an mx-5, for an £85 track day. Worth it? Oh yes.

Looks like you had a great weekend Dimski.
I usually go to teesside whenever there are days on. To be honest I didn't know there were other organisers running days there, otherwise I'd have come along.
Where did you hear about it?
There's another day on the 15th of July. I'd usually be there but I'm doing Croft (a mega-rare noisy day!) on Monday the 18th, so daren't risk breaking the car on the Friday.
You're right about the track though. Small but, still fun. No run off though and it's just too tight round the back isn't it. Good cheap (and local-ish to me) day out.
Anyway, may bump into you if you're ever up there again.

I can't remember how I found it...
Apex are new, and the low numbers and good behaviour by everyone did mean they could relax, and join the fun. It also meant a decent number of laps with an instructor, which was F.O.C. I'd recommend them, but of course they'd be much busier if more cars were booked on. As it was, it worked well.
I don't know if they plan any more days at Teeside, and it is a long way from me. Mike said they were planning a daytime event at Donnington, I'm hoping to do that.
Good chance I'll be back to Teeside at some point though, I have good friends in Newcastle.
The tight, 'alpine' section is brillant, but as you say, it is tight! Great for the mx-5.

Free instruction too!? Excellent!
I'll keep an eye out for any Apex days then. They sound good.
Lovely car by the way. Teesside is ideal for the 5's especially the alpine section, as you put it.
My car just understeers through there and then the back steps out (solid rear axle, like a go-kart) on the left hander after the hump. It's not worth dialling in more toe though as the car was never made for corners that tight, so I just leave it setup for the larger tracks.
Anyway, have fun!
